Welcome to the Black Heterosexual Opposite Sex Couple Study (BHOS, pronounced BOSS).
BHOS is an interactive program for Black-identified couples and partners who are sexually intimate with each other.
Couples or partners here are self-defined. The emphasis here is on consensual relationships built on mutual respect – for yourself and each other.
Because HIV/STI transmission is very unique for different people, for this study couples are Black identified and heterosexual (sex is biological term; gender is social term).
There's a focus here on Black couples given the dynamic and traumatic experience they have lived historically.
Given this traumatic history and unique stressors, it’s important for partners to work together regardless of the type of couple or intimate partners they are.
BHOS Couples Study ends with you both building a sexual or relationship agreement together.
